At the request of the Beirut Municipality (Project Owner), the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) contracted ECODIT Liban to prepare an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study of the proposed Ain El Mreisseh underground parking project in Beirut. The Project proposes two underground parking levels with a total parking capacity for 688 cars and a total Built-Up-Area of about 22,158 m² with two entry points and two exit points. ECODIT Liban prepared the EIA Report based on the EIA Decree No. 8633/2012 and assessed the potential environmental and social impacts of constructing and operating the underground parking garage. The analysis was based on a detailed review of the preliminary design and the related Traffic Impact Study. The EIA was not finalized as the project has been put on hold by the client due to the Ministry of Environment's request to prepare a Strategic Environment Assessment for all transport projects in Beirut.
