Under the Regional Governance and Knowledge Generation (ReGoKo) Project in Lebanon, ECODIT Liban conducted the Environmental Assessment Studies for two industrial establishments including the Rendering Plant of Wilco PM (Chekka). 

In support of the future loan application to finance the pollution abatement system under LEPAP, ECODIT Liban conducted an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) of the rendering plant in line with EIA Decree (8633/2012) and World Bank OP 4.01 (Environmental Assessment). 

The ESIA provided an overview of the project, identified key potential project impacts, listed the necessary mitigation measures and defined the environmental monitoring and management plan required to prevent potential environmental impacts. The proposed rendering plant will be installed inside the new WILCO PM Poultry Slaughterhouse and Processing Plant in Chekka. The rendering plant will receive poultry processing waste, which will be treated to produce Feather/blood meal, poultry meat meal, and poultry fat. The assessment was approved by MOE in 2017.
